My name is Elisha (26), I am moving to the Netherlands to complete a two-year research master's degree in Urban Studies at the University of Amsterdam, while working part-time. I have lived in New York for the last 2 years, in my lovely, out-of-the-way apartment in Brooklyn filled with plants and books. Now, moving to the Netherlands, I hope to find a similar situation, where I can have a place to live that I cherish. I want to be a respectful roommate, one who helps maintain the space and who respects the boundaries my flatmates all have.
A bit about me: I am a coffee snob. I'm very active--I CANNOT WAIT to take advantage of what the Dutch do best and ride a bike everywhere I go. In 2018 and 2019, I lived in Berlin, where cycling everywhere was easy and brought me so much joy. When COVID-19 started, I had the good fortune of getting a job as a copyeditor with a human rights and democracy nonprofit. Now I am transitioning to a different field, and I want my professional life to involve thinking and studying cities, cultural change, and environmental issues. I love cooking and sharing food (particularly coffee) with friends. I have never been a party person--I plan to enjoy Amsterdam's beautiful wine bars and hope to never step foot in club.
